September

1- Fall Coloring Contest Begins

Children up to age 12 may color this page for a chance to win a special prize. Return the coloring page to the Park's office at 128 East Market Street by September 28th. Winners will be contacted at the conclusion of the contest.  Download (2012 picture) the coloring page or pick up a copy at the City Clerk Treasurer's office.

4 - Coed Volleyball league registration beings.  See Nov. 5th for more details.

5 and 19 - Free Bingo!

The 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month during the school year at the Boys and Girls Club from 12:30-2pm.

9 - National Neighborhood Day

4 – 6 p.m. at Kehoe Park.  The police and fire departments will be grilling hot dogs for us to serve with some chips, pretzels, cookies and drink. There is no cost to participate.  Come on out and be neighborly!

12- Bark Before Dark (bone hunt)

Roush Park, 6:00p.m.  Dog bone hunt with special prizes awarded.  All dogs must be kept on a leash and owners are responsible to clean up after their pets.

12 - Dig and Seek

Bring the kids to Roush Park for some old fashioned "playing in the dirt's".  Bring your own buckets, shovels and toy trucks and keep an eye out for hidden treasure.

16 - Bike Race

For all abilities as you are racing against yourself.  More information and registration will be coming soon.

19- Craft Club
It’s time to put these creative minds in one room for an afternoon of artistic fun. Each session will have a craft prepared for you to work on that will vary from free to $3, or feel free to bring your own and enjoy socializing with others like you. These classes are the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 3-4pm on the 2nd floor of City Hall (right after Bingo ends). Instructor is Kathy Gehrett to find out what the craft is call 824-6069 at the beginning of the month.

22- Art & Craft Bazaar

Come experience the variety and expertise of locally-made crafts. Call 824-6069 for more information.  noon - 7p.m.

24- Fall Senior Exploration

This is a 6 week program designed to bring adults together for learning, socializing and fun. Instructors selected for each class are volunteers from Bluffton and the surrounding area who enjoy sharing their personal interests and hobbies. A free continental breakfast is served every morning at 8:30a.m. while you visit and catch up with your new friends.
Call 824-6069 to register. The charge for the entire term is only $12. Classes start Sept 26th!

October

1- Howl-o-ween Pet Photo Contest Begins

Send your favorite pet photo to the Parks Office by October 27. We will display them at Halloween Adventure and call the winner in early November.

3- Open Gym Begins

Students in grades K-12 are invited to the city gym for supervised play every day typically from 4-7p.m. starting October 3rd.  Basketballs and other equipment are provided during this time. Times vary for special events and rentals, so you can pick up a calendar at the gym or look it up on the City's Website.

3- Weekday Walkers Begins

The Parks Department will open the City Gym for adults to walk in every weekday. Enjoy a warm and dry place to get a little exercise. 8:30-10:30 a.m.

1- Middle School Dodge-Ball

This event will take place over the next 5 weeks on Mondays. Drop in by 6pm and enjoy an exciting game from 6-7:30pm.   Call 824-6069 for more information.

2- Special Toddler Event

Every Tuesday and Thursday from 11a.m. - noon the City Gym will be open to give you a warm place to let the kids run and play with others their age.  Some equipment will be provided, and parents must stay and supervise their children.   The first Tuesday of each month we will offer a special activity or craft.

3 and 17 - Free Bingo!

8- Senior Carry-In Lunch

13- Great Pumpkin Hunt/Hayride

Join us for a festive evening at Lancaster Park on Jackson Street. Bring your flash light to hunt for the 2000 orange and black halloween eggs, then enjoy a hay ride and smores.7:30 p.m.

18- Badminton

These events will take place over the next seven Thursdays. If you are looking for a fun cardio workout, join the Bluffton Parks & Recreation Dept. at the city gym on Thursday evenings from 7 - 9 p.m. for badminton. That's right, badminton and all equipment is provided! This is open to anyone 16 years and older & the cost is a one time fee of $5.00 per person. Don't miss out on the fun! 24 - Pumpkin Dunken will be Wednesday Oct 24th at the Bluffton Middle School Pool at  6:30pm.  Participants will be able to swim with the floating pumpkins and pick one out to take home. There is a small fee to cover the cost of the pumpkin and admission for family swim from 7-8pm. Call 824-6069 to pre-register by Oct 22.

31- Autumn Adventure

Bring your dressed-up children to trick-or-treat in the City Gym and area businesses. 5 - 6:30 p.m.

5- Adult Volleyball League

This league allows adults to stay in shape and enjoy athletic competition all while having fun. Players must be at least 18 years of age. Games are held on 10 consecutive Monday evenings. Cost is approximately $65 per team plus official fees. Register begins on September 4 at 824-6069.
