Wells County EMS Inc.

Wells County EMS Inc. was created by actions of the Wells County government. The Private Not-For-Profit organization was contracted by Wells County to provide Emergency Medical Services in Wells County since July 1, 2000. Wells County EMS Inc. currently has four locations to serve the community located at:

  1. 140 West Spring Street, Bluffton
  2. 507 North Jefferson Street, Ossian
  3. 9130 S. 300 W., Poneto (next to Southern Wells High School)
  4. Markle City Building

All of the ambulances are staffed with a Paramedic 24 hours a day 7 days a week.  Often the Paramedic partner is an Advanced EMT, with the exception of the Markle ambulance which has a paramedic only who responds in a non-transport ambulance.

In 2007 Wells County EMS Inc. will be working hard to promote Community Education by offering several programs including CPR and AED training along with First Responder and Basic EMT classes.  All medics are required by the State and the National Registry to have on going EMS training. Wells County EMS Inc. has been a leader in education for many years and we are excited to now offer this to the community.

Wells County EMS Inc. was recently awarded the Otis R. Bowen Heroic Rescue Award for the heroic act of our medics and the Ossian Fire Department.

Funding for the EMS service comes in many forms.  Direct billing for patients including insurance billing and grants from the Wells County Health Services Foundation.

There are currently 44 employees with Wells County EMS Inc. and all are highly skilled and competent in the field of emergency medicine.  We support many programs including bike medic program, High School athletic coverage and an annual Golf Outing where the money raised is used toward the purchase of AED's to place in our community.  Wells County EMS Inc. is proud of the service that we are able to provide to the community and welcome any questions or concerns.  Please feel free to call the Wells County EMS Inc. director, Tina Dudgeon at (260) 827-0166.
