1 - Summer Coloring Contest Begins

Children ages 12 & under may color this page for a chance to win a special prize.  Participants should finish coloring by June 30th and return it to the ParK Office at 128 East Market Street.  The winner will be announced shortly after.    Download the coloring page or pick one up at City Hall.

 
 

8 -Art in the Park

Held for 7 consecutive Fridays. noon - 1:30pm at Washington Park.  Free event.

 
 

10 - Grandpa and Me Build a Magazine Rack

Join us at Kehoe Park Pavilion for a fun afternoon.  Call 824-6069 to register before June 1st.  Space is limited and open to boys and girls.  Cost is $5 per project due the day of the event and you will need to bring a hammer. Event is held from 2-3:30pm and rain site will be the City Gym.

11- June Kids Camp Begins

If your child could design a perfect summer, it would probably include plenty of playmates, fun activities, and a place to cool off when the summer sun gets too hot. The Bluffton Parks department offers 2 week half day camps for students who completed K-3rd grade. Campers will participate in tennis, free play (including snack time) and swim lessons between the hours of 9am-noon either June 11 - 22nd or July 9-20th. So if you are looking for a way to get the kids out of the house, away from the TV and video games call the park office at 824-6069. Cost is $30.  Space is limited. Drop off is at Washington Park.  There is also a full day option if you like your child to ride the bus to the boys and girls club where they will receive lunch and participate in their activities.  (Must be a member of the club)  (this session is full)

 
 

11 - Adult Tennis League

Held at Washington Park beginning at 6pm.  Classes on Mondays for 6 weeks. This is a free league, but you will need to bring a can of unopened tennis balls each night.  Winner of the match will keep the unopened can.  You must call to pre register at the Bluffton Parks Dept. (824-6069) by May 28th.

 
 

13& 27- Wet Wacky Wednesday

The pool will be open for evening family swim the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of summer months.    Pool hours are 6:30-8pm and the cost is $1 per person over age 5.  This event idea came from families who put in their requests either by calling or by taking our survey.  We are happy to take your comments and suggestions to try new things!  

 
 

14 -Wood Craft Kit

2-3 pm Call to pre register.  You must bring $5 and hammer.  Event is at Washington Park.

 
 

16- Touch a Truck Event

Let your child experience what big trucks are really like. Vehicles will be on display at Washington Main Commons. Trucks may include: a dump truck, concrete mixer, ambulance, fire truck, police car, etc. This event is free and open to the public. No pre-registration is required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. In case of unfavorable weather, this event will be canceled. 9a.m. - noon

 
 

16 - Children's Garage Sale

Teach your children the value of a dollar and get them to clean their rooms. Call 824-6069 to register your child in our annual garage sale held at the Washington Main commons during the touch a truck event from 9am-noon. Sale items can be toys, books, puzzles, movies, sports equipment etc. No clothing or lemonade stands allowed. Cost is $2

6-8pm. Held at Washington Park.  Call the park office at 824-6069 to pre register and find out the menu.  Cost is $3 per person.

20 - Preserving Nature’s Bounty

Picture your garden overflowing with plump, juicy tomatoes, shiny green peppers, and crisp green beans.  Imagine picking juicy peaches, pears, and apples from the local orchards or selecting fresh produce from baskets at the farmers’ markets.
Why not save some of this bounty to enjoy all through the year?  Food preservation is the process of treating and handling food to stop or greatly slow down spoilage, loss of quality, edibility, or nutritive value caused or accelerated by micro-organisms.
Learn to preserve foods safely. The Bluffton Parks Department will have Molly Hoag (Health and Human Sciences Extension Educator) offer a  ‘Preserving Nature’s Bounty’ workshop to discuss safe home food preservation procedures and to answer the frequently asked questions on canning, freezing, and drying foods.   The workshop is scheduled for Wednesday June 20, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. on the 2nd floor of city hall (128 E Market) Please register by calling the (260) 824-6069, or email mhoag@purdue.edu for a more information.  Registration cost is $3.00, payable at the door.  

 
 

21 - Archery Clinic

This is for ages 10 years and up from 6:30 - 8:00 pm at the 4-H Park.  You must call to pre-register at 824-6069 starting April 25th.  This is a free event and bows are provided.

 
 

22 - Fencing Clinic

This is for ages 8 years and up from 5-6pm at the Bluffton City Gym.  You must call to pre-register at 824-6069 starting April 25th.  All fencing gear is provided and the program is free.

 
 

25 - Tot Swim

M-W-F from 11 - 11:45 am   Tot swim lessons are for 4 yrs to pre-K and must have a parent in the water.  Lessons are June 25, 27 & 29th from 11-11:45am.  Registration day is May 12th from 10:30am - 12:30pm in City Hall.  Cost is $5.50 per child.

 
 

26 - Special Needs Swim

Great opportunity to explore the water for special needs children and adults. This event takes place on Tuesday and Thursday. (4 lessons)Call 824-6069 for more information and to register.

6- Peewee Basketball Registration

Come register at Kehoe Park Pavilion from 8 pm, and stay for the movie following. This league will begin playing August 13 and runs for 6 Saturdays. League is for boys and girls who will be entering Kindergarten through 4th grade in 2010-11 school year. Cost is $15 per child.

21- Iron Kid Triathlon

A triathlon is a swimming, bicycling, and running competition. Each triathlete will swim first, go directly to bicycling, and finish the competition running. NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY. This is a fantastic opportunity for your child to participate in an enjoyable, life-experience through athletics. These kids will be on the road to a healthy active lifestyle while meeting new friends and building self-confidence. Download the registration form IronKid Triathlon Form (PDF) and mail to the park office at 128 E Market St. Bluffton Indiana 46714 by July 9th, 2012 or stop by City Hall on May 12th 10:30am – 12:30pm. Race time is set to start at 8:00am sharp. This event is for children ages 5-12, cost is $15 and includes a t-shirt, finishing medal, snacks, and trophies to the top 3 in each age group and gender. 23- Boot Camp Week

Students that have completed grades 5 and 6 may register by calling 824-6069 before July 3. Hurry, enrollment limited to the first 32 students. Students will learn respect for the American Flag, physical fitness, bike safety, water safety, self discipline and much more. Cost is $10, and scholarships are available.   8-11:30 am Waiver

9am.  Must pre register and event will be held in the City Gym.

 
  August  
  1- Cardboard Boat Race
Families build a boat using only cardboard and duct tape that 2 people can ride in and enter the 2012 Cardboard Boat Race held on Wednesday, August 1st. . Official rules are at the Park office and you must call 824-6069 to register by July 18th. Admission is $2.00.

11- Women's Self Defense

Women will meet in the City Gym to learn pressure point techniques that do not require much strength. Each participant will receive a free self defense stick that can attach to your key ring.  Call to register by the Friday before at 824-6069. Free Event  9-11 a.m.
